1. Autophagy Won The Nobel Prize In Medicine In 2016
Every cell in your body has a built-in cleanup system. When triggered it:
- breaks down damaged proteins,
- clears out worn-out components,
- and builds newer, healthier versions in their place.
This process is called autophagy.
Its discovery was so important that it earned the 2016 Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine on behalf of the Japanese cellular biologist Dr. Yoshinori Ohsumi.
But there is a problem.
The things you're already doing, like intermittent fasting, caloric restriction, and even exercise, don't reliably trigger deep cellular autophagy on their own.
The bar to actually activate it is much higher than most people realize.
